Even the most perfectly housebroken critter will wander if the opportunity arises. That’s why microchipping has become a high-tech blessing for pets and their human companions.
The Dallas Animal Services has, time and again, reunited lost humans and pets thanks to the chip that’s the size of a grain of rice. Even if they’ve been separated for years, the microchip has made the love connection.
Only problem? They’ve worn out the present scanners due to an overload of animals.
According to DAS,
“. . . in order to scan for a chip, Dallas Animal Services (DAS) has to have scanners and theirs are wearing out. They’re scanning as many as 100 dogs and cats each day, and it’s really taking its toll on the devices. The good news is that the ones they use are on sale now, for only $200 each, and just 10 of them will get them through the summer.”
“All we need to do is raise $2,000 by June 30th (when the sale ends) and DAS can keep reuniting lost pets with their owners. Dallas Companion Animal Project is a non-profit 501c3, so your donations are deductible to the fullest extent of the law. Any proceeds left over once scanners are purchased will go to the Dallas Animal Services Fund at DCAP which benefits the animals at DAS.“
How would you feel if your kitty or pooch were turned into DAS, there was no scanner available and your pet was put up for adoption. . . or worse. . . because their chip couldn’t be read.
While that would probably never, ever happen, still the DAS is in desperate need for funds to purchase a new scanner. If you would like to pitch in a penny or two, here’s the link. Remember to scroll to the bottom of the page and choose “Dallas Animal Services Fund.” Then type in “Scanners” in the “Special Instructions” box on the second page.
Remember the sale ends Sunday, June 30. So how about skipping that dessert and making a donation?
