In celebration of its new name from Housing Crisis Center to Home Point, Board Chair Carolyn Goelzer, Board Member Catherine Jaynes and a herd of their friends like Andrea and Heath Cheek, Carol and Sam Dalton, Shannon Graham, Amy Green, Kimber and Michael Hartmann, Melissa Sherrill and Ross Martin, Beth and Chuck Thoele, Jessica and Collin Wilson took over On The Levee on Thursday, February 6, for an unreal hoedown. Why, Catherine had signed up to chair the event and Katherine and Austin Wyker had come on board to be honorary co-chairs.

But what made the night truly “unreal” was the entertainer of the night who was the center of conversations from the first look. Here’s a report from the field:

“Willie or won’t he?” was the pervasive question at Saturday evening’s inaugural All Points Home 2025 gala benefiting Home Point (former known as Housing Crisis Center) at On The Levee. Gala Chair Catherine Jaynes and Home Point Board Chair Carolyn Goelzer decided on a “Cowboy Chic” motif to introduce a whole new posse of supporters to the charity which provides shelter, support and resources to individuals, families and veterans who are facing homelessness and/or housing instability.

In keeping with the cowboy cool vibe, Catherine and Carolyn hired the “Red Headed Stranger Willie Nelson Tribute” ensemble. The “pseudo” Willie, in the dim lighting during the cocktail reception, truly resembled the legendary performer.

“How did they get Willie Nelson,” asked more than one western-clad reveler. “I thought he only did big gigs like Cattle Baron’s and stuff in Austin,” said her companion.

Willie 2.0 drew a lot of attention while preparing to go on stage and the whispers grew louder… “Is that really Willie Nelson?” But also, the group revealed they were just imposters, but pretty darn good ones and the dance floor was soon packed.

Home Point CEO Kelvin Brown in a burgundy velvet jacket, jeans and a prominent cowboy hat, cut a fitting profile as he introduced a moving video of the agency’s services and offered a brief, but impassioned plea for support of the organization before the music returned and the boot-scootin’ took over.

In the spirit of recycling classics and repurposing all good things, Host Committee members and attendees Christie and Christian Weischel loaned the décor from their daughter’s recent deb ball to the party atmosphere which created a candlelit, tree-filled setting for  the 200-plus guests who enjoyed western cuisine and a curated silent auction before swaying to “Whiskey River” and dozens of other Willie faves.

“This was really a grass-roots effort that blossomed into a very successful first-time event,” said Carolyn. “Home Point staff and volunteers need this awareness and financial support to walk alongside those who are courageous enough to ask for help.”

Top sponsors of the night included Sewell, Pendry’s, Holland And Knight.
