According to Vogel Alcove supporter Joyce Morrison,

“I am honored to be a donor and supporter of Vogel Alcove (www.vogelalcove.org), a Dallas-based 501c3 nonprofit organization that has provided therapeutic services and support for more than 16,000 area homeless children and their families since its founding in 1987.

“My family and I have supported Vogel Alcove for over 10 years because we believe children are our most precious resource, and it is critical that we provide them with the love, support and resources they need to move from homelessness to security and success in life.

“Each night, approximately 4,500 children in Dallas go to sleep without a home of their own. Vogel Alcove helps provide many of these children with a sense of stability and normalcy.

“The organization offers enrichment programs such as art, music and physical development. Vogel children also benefit from our Nature Explore-certified outdoor classroom and our therapeutic gardens. Spending time in nature helps children improve their social and motor skills, supports creativity, reduces stress and teaches empathy—all of which can be challenging for children experiencing trauma. For children needing more intensive support, Vogel also provides onsite speech and physical therapy. In addition, Vogel’s child care programs offer a USDA-sponsored program that provides a healthy breakfast, lunch and snack for each child, each day.

“The holidays can be an especially challenging time of the year for homeless children who yearn for many of the same things that all children desire. That’s why Vogel Alcove conducts an Annual Toy Drive – to allow children to be children and provide their parents with the means to give their children a memorable and happy holiday experience.

“To support the organization’s Annual Toy Drive, this year Vogel Alcove hopes to collect enough new toys to support 200+ children. The organization is accepting unwrapped toy donations at their downtown location (1738 Gano Street, Dallas, TX 75215) through Thursday, December 2, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Anyone can donate – the more the merrier to help make the season brighter for these children. Or, for those who prefer to make a financial contribution, they may do so at https://www.vogelalcove.org/donate-to-vogel-alcove/.”
